If it's for the 1.8 k series the water pump is on the offside side of the engine, easily accessed with the wheel removed and arch liner taken out and cam belt covers taken off, easy job to do on the driveway wouldn't of thought it would take a garage more than a couple hour to do may as well have the belt and tensioner changed at same time.

As already said, not a bad job if it's on the 1.8T in your public profile.

I can't imagine any garage or mechanic fitting a water pump without wanting to replace the timing belt & tensioner (I wouldn't) unless you signed a disclaimer & even then, they may not take it on.

Also remember that as you're supplying the part (water pump & seal), warranty will only be on the fitting of your part.

Have you also bought yourself some OAT (Red) antifreeze?

Default Rover 75 water pump problems

Hi Guys further to my over heating problems...What I am thinking now it could be the thermostat...is this easy to get out or is it a garage job.

any photos where it is on the vehicle would be appreciated.

Is there any tests I can do to see if the water pump is working.

Thanks

Hi Bill,

Could you post full details of your overheating problems and we will be able to help you. Of one thing I am sure, it won't be your water pump.

Before you reply, with the engine started from cold, press the windscreen demist button then get out of the car and walk to the radiator grille. Can you hear your radiator fan running continuously?

Simon
