I've done it! By far the most difficult job I've ever attempted! Big shout out to everyone who offered advice - although we butt heads sometimes on here this is what it's all about! Unfortunately on inspecting the new wish bone it seems they've sent me the wrong side (listing said right hand side - that's driver side right??). My luck couldn't get any worse! But the main thing is IT'S OFF !!!! To split it I jammed a hammer in between the subframe as mentioned in another thread, then hit my pickle with a lump hammer and the rage of a man who's been trying to remove a wish bone since last Friday! Pop! Out ya go!

Well done, the key to removing the centre joint is getting the car high enough to allow a good swing on the hammer.
The thread on the rear bush mounting holes is an M14 for future reference.

Billy; if you would like a little tip, note the horizontal line on the rear end of the suspension arm (it's not a wishbone by the way!). Also, before dismantling, mark and measure the position of the bush housing. These will enable you to fit the new one in exactly the right position without the need for any jacking, G clamps or swearing when it comes to refitting the arm.

Can I throw a relevant question into the article?
How many of us during our maintenance of our cars ever bother to check the torque of wheel bolts, especially after having them off the car for instance:- checking brakes/replacing brake hoses and the suchlike?

I personally torque everything I can (apart from the 10nm range stuff) as I am not a mechanic and not an engineer. I feel it helps me know I'm doing things right... And to be honest, I find that click extremely satisfying. A couple years ago I snapped a bolt. Then I bought my first torque wrench
