Parking sensors at the front
Hi guys,
I bought one of those cheap Asian parking sensor kits. Because I wantedparking sensors on the front. Unfortunately, it turns out that the engine (when running) is interfering with the sensors, causing them to beep all the time. I was just wondering if anybody has ever tried installing the OEM Rover/MG parking sensors at the front. I would like to know if they don't suffer from the interference. I already installed a switch to turn them on/off when I want to.

Hi Vinnie, I fitted a couple of aftermarket sensors into the lower grill & connected to a switched live in the fusebox without interference Meant they were live while engine was on, but worked ok.

How did you run your wires? Maybe that's what's causing it?
Mine go to the left side of the bumper (the opposite of where the windscreenwasher bottle is), they go up next to the shannon tube, along side the fusebox and then into the control box (wich is mounted to the side of the battery).

Managed to solve the problem. Just wrapped the control unit in aluminum foil and repositioned it.
It works now, just press the cruisecontrol button, hear a beep and I've got front parking sensors. Pressing the button again and they're off. Good thing is that if you have the button on, and take the keys out, the button will be off when you start the car again. So no chance of accidentally having them turned on. However, I'm still keen to know about anyone who has installed proper Rover/MG parking sensors at the front....

I put a clown horn on each corner of the bumper, when I hear HONK, I stop.

Joking aside, i had never given front parking sensors a second thought until i drove a ford galaxy yesterday. You simply cannot see beyond the bonnet (bit like a transit) and they are really useful. Might invest in a kit for the ZT
