Default Single mass flywheel

Found a nice ZT diesel that has been converted to a single mass flywheel, carbon heavy duty clutch and CSC (whatever that is)
Is this considered a useful upgrade or will a dual mass be better?
Not that I know what a flywheel is/does!

it will be very harsh on the clutch uptake, possibly snap your crankshaft and be an uncomfortable ride at low speeds.
A dual mass flywheel consists of two surfaces that rotate,it contains oil,and acts like a shock absorber for when the clutch is released, giving smooth acceleration and gear changes. A lot more expensive though.

The flywheel is what the starter motor engages with when you turn the key,it is also what your clutch is bolted to. CSC is concentric slave cylinder, which is hydraulic and mounted inside the gearbox.

The consensus seems to be that going from a dual mass fly wheel to a solid one is not a good idea, why would Rover spend so much extra money on a much more complicated item if the car did not need it, I think some of it is down to the fact that on the 75 the crankshaft is cast rather than forged, it also smoothes out the power take up from the Diesel engine.

I see you have 2 MG/ZT already, consider then why take a risk on a 3rd that will not compare with the 2 you have due to a serious and non-recommended modification on a very expensive and necessary component?

Thanks for your replies. Maybe I will give it a miss then.
My ZS has a broken engine and other issues and i've just given my ZT Turbo to my dad after he scrapped his Peugeot. Now I start a new job next week i'm a bit stuck! To top it off, my bike is running rough aswell.

The DMF is there for a reason - I'd run away. Have heard of a few snapped cranks with SMF conversions on the 75/ZT - and even more common on VAG engines.

The DMF on our cars is pretty reliable anyway.

A lot of the early PD vags had either depending on age and model, my wifes gttdi had a SMF but my mates earlier gttdi had duel both the same model and no diffrence in drive although my wifes car did rev up quicker,

but as you say the cdti cast crank is a very weak point to these engines, i cannot see any reason to worry about it on the k series and kv6 model car as the 45's and zs's all had SMF, but then they seam more of a drivers car so a more snappy engine is part of it i guess.
