Default The remains of Pre Production M001330

Today I discovered the small remains of a early Pre Production Rover 75....here in Sweden. Yes its true!! I was searching for a chrome bullet mirror cover when this mirror turned up at a scrapyard in the town Orebro .

It belonged to a blue Lhd Rover 75 2.5 litre manual from 1999.
First reg. in Sweden oktober 2002 = import.
Around 100.000 km done when scrapped.

Chassieno: SARRJZLLSXM001330

Anyone here who knowes more about 1330?

I dont belive the car exists any more, but I have sent the scrapyard an e-mail with a request.
They just have the left and right handside outside mirrors, one taillight and one frontlight from the car to offer.

Enclosed photo of the scrapyard register. The chassieno marked yellow and comparing data from my own Pre Production in blue. And also a photo of the right side mirror. To be continued............. // regards from Christian Sweden

Can't say I know anything about the one which has given up its mirrors, but I certainly remember your car very well.

Love this sort of thing, when a rare car or part is found ! Reminds me of the archaeologists when they find a single bone, then reconstruct the whole dinosaur...

I'm puzzled why the model description is given as 'Contemporary'.

Wasn't 'Contemporary' used on the export models right from launch, but only introduced for the home market when the Mk2 came out ?

Not quite. It's just that the build database incorrectly reports a number of cars as being Contemporary trims, while they are really Connoisseurs. It's the same with my launch car...

Default More about scrapped Pre Production M001330........

Hello again!

Thanks for our replies here about M001330 . The paper says Blue, and Atlantic Blue is a very nice colour indeed.
Just got a E-mail from the scrapyard. M001330 was dismantled and crushed in july 2015.....The only positive is that they gave me the swedish reg.number. Its possible that I can trace the former owners in Sweden. It must have been a private imported to Sweden in 2002. I also asked the scrapper if he had any photos of the scrapped 75 before dismantle - they often use photos in their advertisments. Im not sure if some the export 1999:s were namned Contemporary - never heard that!? To be continued....... // Christian

Default Recording to Rabett Rovers Database

From Rabett Rovers Database (2009) regarding the Pre Production Cars:

S446 AOX tax expired 29/8/2002 Blue Connoisseur LHD 2.5 Petrol Manual VIN 001330 (NO INFO AVAIL)

This is the car that ended here in Sweden - scrapped in 2015.
I have located the last owner before scrapped - a 80 year old lady with a artshop in Stockholm. Send her an E-mail two days ago - hopeful to read her reply about the car. The information in the Swedish database is correct regarding Rabetts above. Import to Sweden 2002, (Atlantic) Blue and 2.5 manual. // Christian "Speedblock"
