Default Lady Rover 75 owner in distress in Paris

While searching for a Rover 75 of my dreams (oh yeah!) I came across an ad for one in the Paris region which had the engine immobilised because of a rundown battery, that was back in July. Two months later she still hasn't sold it, not surprisingly, as it's still immobilised; claims she has no money to get a Rover agent (seems they do exist still) to do the necessary for c. 500 euros.
Is there any advice one could give her ? Help one can offer ?
It's a 2001 2.5 V6 Pack Luxe (equivalent to Connoisseur), 160 000 kms, manual box, sunroof, xenons, new tyres and cambelts changed, in a light metallic blue with sandstone leather interior. Lhd, of course.
Wants the excessive price of 3,000 euros for it, but these cars are much more expensive in France...

I wouldn't pay 3000 euros for a car that wouldn't start. No one in their right mind would. I reckon she might be lucky to get 500 euros out of it...

I can certainly sort this out, and for less than 100 Euros

Alright, Marinabrian. I'm keen to hear the procedure you propose. Shoot!

(Like, could I go see her with a laptop running TOAF, and having the right connector, just "reset" the thing ? Guess one would need a good, well-charged battery too... That sounds too easy to me!!!)

In answer to Scoubix: Yes of course a car that can't start is not worth much. I've tried to get the lady to understand this. She maintains the going market value is near 5,000 euros.

As regards the beast in question, I think I erred saying it had Xénons; must be halogen projectors, 'cos it's got the headlight washers but the lenses look too dull for Xénons, judging from the pix.

FWIW, I forget to mention it also has Serpent 17" alloys.

But say, Scoubix, doesn't it sound like a potentially interesting vehicule? For the likes of you and me who are living in the Héxagone, I mean...

TOAF will do nothing, as would T4 I'm afraid

I would need the immobiliser sent to me in order to rectify what is a transponder problem

Take a look HERE

When you speak of the immobiliser, is that a component that one can just pull out of the car without specialist tools or knowledge?

Where does one find it, what does it look like, is it small enough to be sent by post at a reasonable price, etc etc etc ???

I have to admit the notion of ingratiating myself with the lady so that she sells me the car at a knockdown price is tempting.

I can't see her selling it at all in the present circumstances.

So, Marianabrian, is there a procedure that one can propose to the lady? 'Cos frankly, having exchanged a bunch of emails with her, she seems at present to be in a deadend, with the car declining and declining in value at a time when she badly needs money.

Silly story, perhaps, but there it is.

If it's what I think it is - it is a small grey block inside the keyfob. Without it the car won't start
And the transponder is on the circuit board inside the keyfob as well.

The EWS3 immobiliser looks like this........

....and is bolted to the drivers side A pillar directly behind the light switch module.

It is secured with two bolts, with normally a TS30 five point security Torx Plus head, however some very early models have plain 8mm hex head M5 set screws.

A cheap set like THIS would suffice to remove the unit in most cases

Not a particularly difficult item to remove, I've done hundreds and as to size, it's physically about the size of a packet of 20 cigarettes, and can be placed in a jiffy bag to post
