Son's girlfriend Covid+ Christmas lunch cancelled
Unbelievable all set for tomorrow. Christmas dinner with our son, Girlfriend and 3 grandkids at their house.
Just received a phone call. his girlfriend has regular tests at work ( she works in a prison) has tested positive so they all have to isolate for 10 days. Wife is a little upset but what can you do? feel sorry for the grandkids isolating through Christmas and New Year. Had to rush out to buy a Turkey crown and Veg Right where's the whiskey

That is unfortunate, but let's hope she doesn't suffer and you are all clear afterwards. Look forward to the New Year.

I agree better to be safe than sorry. That is the only sensible choice. However, there is no question in my mind that a very significant number of the positives are false positives. The problem for the policy makers is that the test isn't binary, red you have it, green you don't. It's very much shades of grey and where you focus for a practical outcome from testing. Clearly many false negatives would be a disaster, so it had to be biased towards many false positives. Some scientists claim the false positives could be as high as 90%, especially with faster 'lateral flow' testing. However isolation works whether you're positive or not, so isolation is good, and isolation is the desired outcome. The policy is deliberate propagation of fear in the community to get compliance. That does lead to an obvious question. If there are many false positives, what would that do to the stats on 'died within 28 days of a positive Covid test'? A question for the de-briefings later. Meanwhile, just follow the rules, stay safe, and let's all have a Merry 'little' Xmas. Wishing everyone all the very best for a better and hopefully Covid free New Year 2021.

Hopefully having the jab soon. Had notification from doctor that they will be giving it out after Christmas. Does that mean I will not have to worry about getting either of the three strains that there are now? Think I will go for a full house. And then a bottle of whisky. Happy Christmas everyone.

Both my Wife and I had to isolate due to positive testing, ironically I have respiratory issues and it was just like a really bad cold, my wife who is generally ok has suffered and still has long COVID affects.....
But hey as long as everyone is safe, with modern technology we can still, share Christmas with kids and grandkids All the best to everyone

Thanks for all the good wishes, fact is I've had the virus and we think Marina has too, even if not she has had the first of the two jabs. That said we decided not to take the chance of her still being able to carry and transmit the virus given that she is a nurse in a nursing home.
Merry Christmas i'm just over a quarter of a bottle in usually give up at just about half
