Default Sills dilemma.

Just given the Zed a good wash and look over.

Nearside sill on the outer side has developed 3 smallish (5p piece size) spots of just surface rust.

Offside has a couple also.

I remember many years ago I had a Volvo with the same issue, and I treated the rust and then painted the sills with underseal.

Minded to do this with the Zed's sills so will look Cowley style, and be hell of a lot cheaper than getting them treated and sprayed by a paints hop.

Opinions on will look good / OK, or just a dreadfull bodge ?

The sills are solid it's just light surface just starting.

No welding or repairs are needed.

You could spray the underseal with the body colour. A rattle can won't look too bad.

That's a refreshing change, I have yet to hear of any sills on our cars that haven't rotted from the inside out.

Very much a purist thing in that case. only people who are well versed in the marque will know providing the finish is a good one.

Are you sure it surface rust ? Mine was like that by the time I'd prodded it it was a 50p size hole, by the time Tom Hobbs had investigated it was the wort he'd seen at the time ! Had to rebuild the jacking point too.

So be warned it may be worse than it looks !!

Default Sills dilemma.

As others have said, if you can see it on the outside then the inside will be worse. This one was just a few scabs on the outside.
