Default Power boost leak

Seems my Rover 75 diesel, automatic, 2003, has a power boost leak.. one of 3 pipes. When climbing hills, need to put my foot on gas pedal, to floor. Is a power boost test at garage, cheap enough?? Its needs to be on ramp, rolling, to check it

Could be the hose to the inter-cooler leaking pressure.

A garage should be able to tell you if your turbo does spool up OK.

A good chance the intercooler rubber O rings need replacing. the o rings sell for around £6 quid and its about a 30 min job to do yourself.
1 thing you can try without spending any money is to unplug the MAF and see if that makes a difference to boost performance.

I have a feeling that most if not all the above have recently been tested by Andy (Trikey) it seems that due to the engine bay being quite messy from a power steering failure, so full inspection is hard to undertake.

Default Power boost leak

That’s correct Steve, I changed the inlet manifold due to a small leak on the seam, replaced the intercooler o ring seals, changed some vacuum pipe from the egr solenoid that was a bit iffy.

The turbo spoils up fine and has no wear in the shaft, no black smoke at all, intercooler appears to be ok and I can’t see any damage to the intercooler hoses.

I’ll be taking another look when Gary has had the engine bay cleaned to see if I can pinpoint the leak (it sounds like a dump valve on a Subaru when the boost pressure drops off)
