Don't panic! Don't panic! It's happening! or nearly happening! Reports flooding in, major news outlets unavailable all of a sudden. Grauniad, Fin. Times, Indy, NY Times, all unavailable! They are saying Code 503 but we all know better don't we.

"Many UK Folks are desperate to go abroad."

Not for me thanks. Staying here this year. Grandson born last year , not seen him yet, lives in Brussels. Just no desire for it at all. Airports will be bedlam and I don't fancy sitting in a plane (aka flying corona petri dish). Life will come back

Well, I’m one of those folks desperate to get across the water for a holiday, one reason is that I’m good enough to work through all of this my freedom of choice should be exactly that!

the second reason is that the measures abroad are adhered to far better than here in the uk, everyone was respectful of others space, the restaurants had cleaning regimes in place that made us here look draconian.

What’s the difference travelling abroad to visiting a major city in the uk?

Our favourite holiday destination is Italy. Go to various parts every year except for last one and this one. Wouldn't dream of going now though with exit/entry conditions liable to change at the whim of a change in the wind.

However, as the next best thing, we are off to Bluewater tomorrow and have actually booked a lunch table at the best restaurant we know - Ask Italian.

Now the less good news: not in the Rover. No reason other than the weather. The forecast says 0% possibility of rain, brilliant sun all day, no wind. So, for a heart lifting jaunt, the MX5 comes out to play for the first time this year.
Yippeeee.

I meant why would people want to pack onto a plane now while we have rising numbers of people with covid? Crammed into a confined space.
The vaccination does not stop the spread or the contraction, just makes the a/effects of contraction less serious.

Is travel into the UK from abroad the reason why we have a new strain? Then we have people coming home early so they can walk the streets and mingle without having to quarantine, ya that was really considerate to everyone.

Anyone coming into the UK, forced quarantine! And if other countries want to do the same, I dont see an issue.

It only takes one person to start spreading

I think it should be all or nothing, the good old working man (And woman) isn’t allowed to do a lot now apart from work.

Elite sports folk can cross borders at will, illegal immigrants will enter the country without paperwork etc.

We won’t have a travel industry at all if this carries on much longer.

Spot on Andy, wait until the football starts, cram people into pubs and stadia,no worry about Covid then, all they are worried about is the sound of the tills.

The Government do not want you to go abroad for holidays, they want you to spend your cash here boosting our coffers.

Fortnight in Cleethorpes anyone

And then I'll hold you in my dreams
