Tale of woe thus far
After experiencing some difficulty engaging gears on my 2001 Connoisseur I looked around for the best price for a replacement clutch.
The best I could find is £515.90 from a major (and I mean major) motor repairer, won't say which but their name begins with MR C Booked it in for work and arrived 9am 13/02/2018 Received phone call 2pm 13/02/2019 advising me that their 'technician' couldn't find the locking wheel nut remover. I inquired as to whether this person had looked at the spare wheel in the boot and was assured that he had. Paid £10 for a taxi to take another remover to the garage and was then informed that this remover was the wrong size, and the locking wheel nuts would have to be removed forcibly to which I hesitantly agreed. Phone call next day advised me that the 'technician' had located the wheel nut remover in the boot alongside the spare wheel (DUH), but that the clutch kit delivered to them was the wrong item, and they would order the correct one 18/02/2019 Phone call 11.25am 19/02/2019 advised me that 2 (two) clutch kits had been delivered and they were BOTH the wrong items but they are reordering asap. I was informed that the problem was the fact that this particular model was one of the last to be made and that the Rover workers had used just about anything they had to hand during the build. I was assured that the quote given to me would remain the same and that a new part would be delivered tomorrow 20/01/2019. Stay tuned for further episodes in this convoluted tale, and how I wish I had seen the many negative reviews on TRUSTPILOT before I agreed to let them commence the work, as been without a car for a week now with no end in sight. Has any other member had experience of this MR C service ?
