IMO whether MK1 or MK2 is totally irrelevant at this stage - I just prefer one that runs well and is in good condition!

I've had a Mk 1 & now Mk 2 ZT and I like both front ends, think the Mk2 looks modern and sporty and I think was intended to be a family look with the new MG SV. Build-wise, i think the Mk 1 was better though - at least for quality of materials, certainly pre-project drive, hence why I have swapped a lot of bits over - heater panels, furry door seals etc. I don't miss the hard ride of the early Mk 1 ZT, the Mk 2 is still firm but doesn't shake your fillings out. |

But if I had a nice Mk2 - I would consider fitting a Mk1 nose to it rather than try to improve what I don’t really like. What I do like is the Mk2 Seats. Especially in the ZTT - I have a set ready to replace my worn alcantara ones and the design seems better - especially the map pockets. But as others have said - looks are not everything. |

MK1 for me every time, classic looks and it just has something - whereas the MK2 (I have one of both) just seems to be missing something!!!!

A pair of Mk1's in our household and we always say that whenever we park them up anywhere, firstly they have that 'have to turn back and look at them again' beauty, and secondly with the chrome trim and classic looks, I still believe they are always the prettiest cars in any car park.
Have I mentioned, it's the Mk1 for me....
