Default Rare premium parts/accessories and demand.

I regularly browse the parts for sale section and have done for about 3yrs or so now.

Just a personal observation and wondered if others had noticed that what I call premium parts (and accessories), especially those not essential to the running of the car simply don't seem to sell now like they did 18/24 months ago.

A prime example is over there now, Rik-Sta has a gorgeous set of Red Monaco seats for sale for £180 in very good condition with little wear, and to me, a bargain.

They've been on since the 23rd August and yesterday were were bumped with "any offers".

I'm sure, 18/24 months ago, they would have been snapped up within minutes of going on.

A guy near me on FB market had an immaculate summit rear seat for £20, it was then free to anyone to take away, then if not gone in a week, its off to the tip.

Drivers side cup holders seem the same

People are maybe spending on the essentials more? I have been tempted by some things, even bought a few non essentials but my main priority atvthe moment is mechanics and body. I don't think I will relax until after my first mot with the car the end of next month!

There's a few rare accessories I'd kill for, but the problem is I can never find them. I'm specifically looking for the very rare walnut window switches and armrest, and one more 2.0 Litre torpedo badge.

I don't think there's any reason for people buying less accessories, but perhaps like Dawn said people are spending more on essential parts.

Hello Robert,

The two examples you have quoted are items of specific upholstery which, by definition, are going to have a limited market appeal. For this reason, I'd say that the sellers will be fortunate if they achieve a sale within the one or two weeks you've highlighted. More patience is required!

With regard to the summit seats, they're the most basic spec for ZT seat. A couple of years ago I was given a whole set, both front seats and all the parts of the rear seats. I intended on having the covers changed but never got around to it, had them offered for free to collector for a few months before they made their way to the local tip.

As these models become older, there is a good chance that they will already be fitted with “premium accessories “.
I have seen drivers side cup holders advertised, but at a premium price, and there was no way that I could justify £70 or £80 for something that I would use once in a blue moon.
Now if anyone knows where there is a set of facelift saloon rear mudflaps at a reasonable price ......

As noted elsewhere, it all depends on what turns up...supply and demand rules the prices. I would love a walnut steering wheel, but they rarely make an appearance, and all outside my price range

I have just been reading a thread about items that were available. There were no pics. Is there a thread with pics so if I see these things I know they are genuine? Like the first aid kit etc? Currently have a Vauxhall one which irks me lol!

I think in most cases, people who want the bits already have them. With a decreasing market, I suspect some previously "high priced" accessories will be given or thrown away.....
