KV6 oil level check.
My method is : stop on level ground check dipstick, regardless of distance/time it always shows oil just covering the "bulb" Remove the dipstick completely and leave car for about hour or even more. Insert dipstick and it shows the real level (in my case just below full). I have used this for some months and it gave me peace of mind- no more wheres the oil gone puzzles. Chris S.

Indeed Chris. The official period is 5 minutes to allow time for oil to reach the sump from the upper parts of the engine. I suspect that this figure was chosen to make sure that people really did wait and need not be taken absolutely literally!
The plastic graticule on my dipstick is black; the best colour that could have been chosen to make reading the level as difficult as possible! Simon

Mine is black as well, can't really read it reliably in the garage, have to go into daylight.
Do other colours exist? ideally a light mushroom or something. Different years maybe. Mike

I purchased a new dipstick late last year from Rimmers - pale green graticule.
