Exhaust/Cat - which brands?
Hi
I am looking to change the downpipes, cat and intermediate pipe on my 2.0 V6 petrol and don't know which brand to go for. Only aftermarket products are available now and prices vary wildly. I have seen a number of owners use Klarius which I understand are made in the UK and on e bay there are numerous ads for a brand called BM which are also UK made. I have spoken with a couple of local exhaust fitting shops and they conflict in which brands they think are good and which are not so good. Does anyone have any recent experience or recommendations please. |

BM are definitely very much low end.
Klarius are more mainstream. |

A lot of aftermarket Cats rarely last a year or more precisely the warranty. Depends on how long you are planning on keeping your car but a good used one can often be a better option or even have a quality cat welded into a new exhaust. If the budget allows a custom made exhaust in Stainless and a quality cat.

Take a trip to Leeds and speak to Tony Banks, he will sort you a system to your requirements, better than playing a lottery with aftermarket stuff

In August i put a new cat on my 1.8. I bought it from cats 2 u. It fitted well is stainless and no problems so far . It was 122 pounds delivered. A friend bought one a few years ago for his 1.8t from cats 2 u and has had no problem. The rest of my system is Klarius its quiet but the centre section is not a good fit.

I've used Klarius and BM myself - fitting of both wasn't 'perfect' but they did the job for a couple of years before the respective cars were moved on.
I echo MSS's thoughts that BM are lower end, but in my case they did the job well and I had two MOT passes (2.5 KV6 75) in my stewardship. I'd see what's around locally and go from there, perhaps see if you can find a factor that offers a slightly longer warranty.

The Klarius backbox on my 1.8 was easy to fit & is performing well.
