Advice of spray can colour

Anyone know of a suitable spray colour aerosol can to use on my Mk 1 Wedgewood Supertallic temporarily that won't look too bad on the rear sill pieces?


I just have to temporarily spray my two newly replaced rear Sills to protect them from the worst of the weather until I get them both properly sprayed by a professional.

Having just spent a fortune on replacing both, plus re-manufacturing the rotted away jacking points I need a couple of months before getting each side professionally sprayed for which I have quotes for.


Also I would like to spray something like Waxoyl or similar into the new sills through the drain holes but all the spray head attachments that I can see are for fitting to an air gun type attachment.

Does anyone know of a cheapish spray can head and tube that would fit in the holes and also just attach to the aerosol of such a protective product please?

Have a look at this, there is an optional cavity spay attachment which will do the inside of the sills.

It might be worth removing the sill finisher trim and clips to spray in rust proofing to the inside of the sill.

I'm not familiar with this particular product, but I note it's a 'lanolin' based system - maybe the name gives a hint - and which I do know quite a bit about. 'Lanolin' based anticorrosives are first generation rust preventives that were developed in the early decades of the 20th century and have been the bedrock of the metal protection industry ever since. The British armed forces relied almost exclusively on them in both world wars for keeping the war machine working.

They are indeed based on natural, non-petroleum actives and provide remakably good protection in value for money terms. Though petroleum based, semi-synthetic ingredients are now widely used in special need applications, underbody and cavity protection waxes based on 'lanolin' are effective and reliable. I have bought various touch up paints (for Rover, Audi and Ford) from an ebay seller called Fiona McGowan she is based in Northern Ireland and the color matches are great.

Dinitrol do a small spray aerosol of their rust proofing products which are very good.

Remember there are two shades of Wedgewood Blue so order by the colour code on your VIN plate.

I've ordered up the JBH aerosol and the Dinitrol suggestion although I must say that the Lanolin stuff looked good, maybe one for the future when finances permit.

Lanoguard? Can not find what it is made of. Only what it is supposed to do? Is it snake oil or a genuine product?

My post4 above gives you some background to the application of lanolin for rust prevention. If you read through the Lanoguard website, you'll see that lanioin is cited as the primary component. Amazing really. It's several decades since I was involved in lanolin research, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that it's still being promoted in more well known, top shelf products.
