Wow, that's bad! I thought the Buell was bad when I was having a lot of fun and ran out of fuel after about 75 miles, which worked out at about 25mpg.

Even the 1500 Goldwing wasn't anywhere near as bad as that.

I remember reading road tests on the Yamaha LC250 in the noughties reporting 28-29MPG. It also ate tyres.

That's no surprise. The LC was basically a racing bike with a number plate.

My son bought one of the new sporters.
Looks great and goes well but very quiet - weirdly apart from a relatively noisy top end. Personally I'd go for an older Sportster - if I didnt already have two Ariels:¬).

Remember years ago my parents went to a birthday doo at a restaurant in a wee village about ten miles from here. The arrangement was they'd take the car, get a taxi home then I'd take my father on the bike (VFR750 at the time) to collect the car the following morning. Only helmet I had for my father was an open face, on the way to collect the car I heard a voice behind me say "I've got a face like a smacked backside!"

The V-Max MPG was so bad when I was simply riding to work and back and it wasn't far enough to warm up.
