Who's your guitar hero and why?
So many but I would have to say...
Alex Lifeson stage name for Alexandar Zivojinovich (born 27 August 1953 In Canada). The guitarist from RUSH https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEuOoMprDqg It is worth listening to if you have a few minutes. And why? Three people can make that music sound so wide.

My Dad taught himself to play guitar. He ended up being able to play any stringed instrument.

I'd have to say Paul McCartney for Bass guitar, His bass lines are really tuneful & melodic, i.e on the song 'Something' the bass line on that is just sublime. Jimmy Page (Led Zep) & Scott Gorham (Thin Lizzy) are two favourites.
Jimmy pages Riffs are just some of the best rock riffs ever & Scott Gorhams playing with Robbo in Thin Lizzy was breathtaking to say the least.
