Default How much do u spend per year?

Just curious, how much do u spend per year on your rover 75 maintenance wise (excluding extra’s and unnecessary items) things such as repairs, servicing etc..

Do u do it by yourself or by a mechanic? How much do u drive per year? Petrol or diesel?

I’ll start first:

Per year I have to spend around a 1000 euro on repairs easily. I order my own parts and give them to my mechanic who fixes it.

Diesel CDT , I drive +- 15.000 km per year

I can not really tell what I might be spending on the 2.5KV6 as I have only just got it up to scratch. Belts done, two trackrod ends, six ignition coils, lower engine mount, aircon rad and regas, front to back brake pipes renewed. Two rear shockers and springs. Two wishbone rear bushes. Not expecting to pay out much if anything this year. The diesel is sorned so that has not cost anything, but, it never does. Very reliable.

Rover CDT and CDTI. Both Diesels
Do all work myself and between the two cars drive less then 10k.

Necessary spend per year, perhaps not even a couple of hundred pounds each?
Dont think I spent any on my CDTI last year but put new rear dampers and front arm bushes on my CDT last year and did some rust spots and new front brake caliper pistons, seals and disc pads on the front this year, cost about £60 for the brake parts. I expect to fit new front drop links this year.

Unnecessary spend, thats' another matter

My R75 CDT, Over the past five years, £130.00 per year.
P.S. low mileage about 1200 per year.

I do every thing on my V8 myself so only parts.

A set of tyres every 2 years so about £250 a year. A service every 5k miles so another £35 every 8 months and brakes so another £60 a year aprox. A set of plugs every 2 years so another £25 a year. A pollen filter every 18 months so another £10 a year aprox

At the end of the day if it needs something I do it. If I want a cheap car to run I buy a Fiesta or Micra.

I serviced a friends wife's Peugeot 207 today, the parts were nearly £100 including a set of plugs at £40, it will need new rear discs soon and they are £85 each plus £35 for the pads. I know I keep saying it but these cars are not expensive to run when you look at some other cars.

Whatever they cost, they have. They are still cheaper to run than the depreciation on any newer car.

Well, it depends what you class as normal servicing costs but also the age of the car and the mileage. Luck also plays a part! I have had my CDTI for 15 years and it has now done over 260,000 miles. I pay for the work to be done so it includes labour, mainly at an ex-Rover dealer.

12 months to mid May 2021 - 3,000 miles and £714 - includes MOT, service, new bonnet struts, drivers seat belt (frayed so MOT issue) and front tyre guards (not essential), brake wear sensor (£67) and air con re gas (£70)

12 months to mid May 2020 - 14,000 miles and £1,545 - includes tank straps (£200 to avoid possible MOT issue), track rod end (£112), tyres (£440), battery (£140), MOT, fuel pump seals (£238), fuel injection return hose assembly (£121) and service (£218)

12 months to mid May 2019 - 16,000 miles and £1,840 - includes clutch and slave (£693), two tyres (£210), service incl front wishbone (£596), and brake shoes, roll bar link and MOT (£330)

I wish you hadn't asked now - I feel depressed!

Far, far too much!
I often joke that I started the business so I can get the parts cheaper...
