Default Abs / drive shaft front hub issues!

Front hub / upright assembly’s…..

Are they the same for all 75s I have always thought they were. I changed one recently and when I put it on I was struggling to get it to fit. It was like the drive shaft was too long. I checked that it was in the gearbox properly and it seems to be (without taking the gator off) there’s no gearbox oil on the floor so it hasn’t come out. I struggled to get it all back together. When you moved the steering you could see the engine rock. This didn’t seem right but I had to get the car back on the wheels. Took it for a test drive and found the backing plate was rubbing sorted that but noticed on the second test drive that the drive shaft was now nocking. I had drives over a 1000k miles last week with the cad and no nicking from anywhere. The reason for changing the hub was abs issues but that’s a full different story.

The car is my v reg v6 and the hub came off this car on eBay

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rover-75-...-127635-2958-0

I’ve swapped hub before with no issues and done full struts ect. I’ve fitted petrol hubs to CDTs with no issues.

The abs light was still on aswell so got knows why is up with that.

Yes, all 75/ZTs use the same hubs: https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-GRID001544

Maybe the one on the donor car was an after-market replacement? Some 'non-genuine' parts are known to have a poor fit. Not heard it about hubs tho.

I found the issue…… the driveshaft has disintegrated inside. The bearings had come apart so it wasn’t working correct. Taken it all apart and rebuilt the bearings, seems okay so will put it back together tomorrow and see if that cures that issue. Then it will be the abs to sort…..

This had me stumped - I had to check the EPC to make sure there wasn't an 'early' hub I didn't know about!

Glad you got to the bottom of it; just to confirm all hubs are the same (RUB101920 and RUB101930).
We'll have some new, genuine stock coming in during November I expect
