Default Parking Sensor Retrofitting? How would I find any in my colour??

Hi all

My Old English White 75 is only a Connoisseur and I am slowly adding the SE things. For the parking sensors, how would I be able to do it? And how am I supposed to find any in Old English White??

Any help appreciated, Thanks

I retro-fitted them to my last car, a Rover Sterling and it wasn't difficult, took a morning but I'm a DIY mechanic at most.

The kit I bought came with a hole saw, so you remove the rear bumper, measure it up and cut equidistant holes, then fit the sensors in the holes. There's a control box which you wire to the sensors with plug-in connectors and wire in to the reversing light circuit and hide behind the side boot trim. Mine was audio only- "beep-beep-beep-beep" so I didn't need to wire in a dashboard display and wouldn't know how to do that.

I'd be very surprised if you could find them in any type of white, let alone a specific white. I suppose you could paint the surrounds with a rattle can before you fitted them but you'd need to leave the "eye", which is generally black, unpainted.

This was all a long time ago and technology may have improved but that's my experience anyway.

For reasons which are almost entirely irrelevant to this post (apart from referring to it in my post above), here's a photo of my Rover Sterling. I really like this photo, what with the Viking ship in the background, just like on the grille badge. The photo was taken at Pegwell Bay, Ramsgate.

I sold it nine years ago, when I bought my 75, to a restorer/enthusiast, after owning it for 8 years, but it still exists on a SORN notice and was taxed as recently as 2017. In a way I wish I still had it but it was horrendous on petrol and needed a lot of work and I had started doing much higher mileages due to work which is why I went for a diesel.

Try these, 2 whites to choose from Pearl (Pear) looks to be close, also be easy to overspray before fitting.

When I had my Wedgwood blue 75 I fitted a set of tonic blue parking sensors and it was a very close match. These are much more reliable than the original set up and easy to fit, and don't break the bank, so nothing to lose.
