Default Set water hoses

Could anyone recommend a source of cooling hoses for a 1.8t. After a recent blow out of one hose and the problem of an emergency fix I am thinking it would be prudent to replace the lot. Anyone else done this?

Yes- following a split hose in 2017 i swopped out all the MGR rubber hose for silicone hose - they are a tight fit and pricey (£160 for the set) but will probably outlast the car . It was from a company called MKHose in Milton Keynes but am told they are no longer trading - i saw their wares on e bay.

just be wary.... that the majority of hoses sold on the web are often not complete or correct ..

Lots have the lower tee piece and pipe to the header tank missing..

Been caught out on our 1.8T .

Hi Don,

I'd recommend that you consider the reason for your hose failure. After all, it's not exactly a regular occurrence!

Hi Don

The hoses that fail on the later 1.8 cars are usually the ones at the front of the engine have a look at yours then if you think they do need changing rimmers should have some

Default Set water hoses

I think the main front hose simply gave up the ghost due to its age. The 'fix' which meant joining together pieces of sound hose appears to be wearing well but I can't help but wonder how long it will last. Replacements would give peace of mind!

Default Setwaterhose

The one that split was the one leading from the engine block at the front to the radiator. Sorry seem unable to do pictures.!! Would happily purchase if you have a spare.

We have them here - lovely and cheap, and includes the T Piece and a couple of other smaller hoses too.
