Does it have an infra red remote with it, or available as an optional extra? If yes to either then it will work presuming your car had a Kenwood system fitted as standard in the first place. Only the Kenwood units worked using infra red, all other oem units worked with hard wired controls Edit..... Just noticed you have a Rover, not an Mg! As far as I recall only the Mg's used the Kenwood units so in this case, no the steering wheel controls will not work straight off with the Kenwood unit. You will probably need to get a connects2 or Autoleads swc control interface.

The Kenwood KDC-W5534U has a USB output and a steering wheel control input.
A better option would be to put all your music on a USB memory stick. As said you will have to get a steering wheel interface from connects2 or Autoleads. Dave T |

It could be worth trying to get hold of the standard kenwood cassette player from a ZT. The steering wheel controls will work, The CD changer will work and nobody will break in and steal it!!

The cd changer will work fine but the steering wheel controls won't! The Kenwood systems fitted to the Mg cars use infra red transmitters. The Rovers use hard wired connections. You would need an infra red transmitter box retro fitted to a Rover to enable swc
