Master clutch cylinder leak

Hi , I recently bought an 05 75 cdti with 80k , I recently fitted a new clutch master cylinder ( a metal type ) and whilst the clutch is operating fine I have noticed the slightest little leak of fluid on the rubber boot at the bottom of the steering rod , could I have over filled the new cylinder and am now pushing a little fluid out of the breather hole in cap , all seals around cylinder appear Good ?

There are several posts on this subject and if you do a search I think you will find them. It seems it might be a development fault with the master cylinder itself.

Is it one of these ???

Yes well known to leak, I've got one fitted at the moment but will be ripping it out soon.

Bored of bleeding the clutch all the while

Cheers for the replies guys , no it isn't one of the ones pictured , however it is the "cast" body and not the plastic version . I bought it online from dmgrs ? A guy who seems to run the site called Mat said that it was by far the best version of the cylinder and out of the hundreds sold he had not had any negative feedback .

Have you got the black diaphragm in under the lid? And ensure the the hose is tightly screwed into the master cylinder.

I've not heard of any problems with these. But yes if recently topped up it can be overspill finding its way down, but as you say its on the rubber gaitor I would say check the hose connection.

Yeah the gator is in place , I remember when I topped it up and put the gator in followed by the car it over flowed so hopefully it will be that , fingers crossed!

my clutch is leaking also, but I've found that its leaking as I'm pressing the clutch it SHOOTS right thru the little air hole in the cap so I put a screw in it, is that ok?? I don't have an insert inside the cylinder that goes on top of the fluid,

In a word no, it needs to breathe. Either refit the rubber condom that should be there, or don't over fill it. But either way, remove the screw.

I recently had my master done and gave assistance mine was plastic I notice you all saying you topped it up and bleed it
With mine it was already filled and did not need bleeding
the mech said they come ready filled
