Default Silly Question - Coolant Temperature Sensor

It wasn't until I had found a suitable tool to install a new engine coolant temperature sensor and tightened it that I realized the electrical connector piece rotated within the sensor body. The question is should that connector piece be locked solid within the metal body?

Yes, the connector should be rock solid to the body. Sounds like yours wasn't quite crimped tight enough when manufactured.
