Talking Any "Sixteener Special" lads from the 70s?

I have just got this book

For those of you that first took to the road with a sports moped, in the 70s, some of the pictures might bring back some memories.
The days of the FS1E, SS50 and the screaming Garellis to name but a few.

I took to the road on a KTM Comet Cross, which looked great in the school car park.
Ah, the freedom .............

All blue smoke and noise most of them. If you were bored, you could always sit and watch them rust!

A friend of mine had an SS50 Honda with that upswept Exhaust! The first time I borrowed it I forgot to tell him I had never ridden a motorbike before...lol. But I managed to get from Richmond to Bedfont to visit my brother OK.... The only thing that I had to learn was to 'blip' the throttle when changing down.

I think it was the only 4-stroke 50 at the time...???

SS50 5 speed for me when I was 16!

However, mine ended up with a C70 barrel and piston and C90 carb!

We have an old puch moped buried in the back of the shed. Its going to get dragged out in the next couple of weeks to get sold. We have had it for about 18 years and havent seen it for about 10 as its been under blankets.
Will take a few pics and post them when I get it out. It should still be in good condition. Its ex GPO.
