Default Trevs new Rover 75 CDT Club SE

Can't wait - I've got a bunch of cash burning a hole in my pocket having sold my Rover 214 si and a bicycle, this is what the money is spelling out!

I'm picking up a 1999 Club SE CDT 116 in the morning. Its done 154k and had a new clutch slave cylinder recently for £700

Here she is...

First job is an oil change and some injector cleaner, then a damn good clean!!! More to follow! :-)

Thanks everyone! I'll check the paint code later to confirm its copperleaf red... I think the exposure is OK on the pics.

The drivers door was locking but not unlocking on the remote. The button was sticking up a bit so I hoped for an easy fix, but alas with the button fixed and sliding up and down nicely it locks but won't unlock, so I need a new drivers door locking unit... :-( maybe I will need to sell my shoes!

it drives well, no smoke visible from the exhaust apparently. had to oil up the bonnet release cables as they were sticking. good news is the wheel locking key is present ... Phew!!!

Waiting for a hand syphon pump to arrive from flea bay, so I can suck out 6L of dirty oil and stick in the Halfords 10/40 semi that I bought, along with a 36mm socket from a friend so I can change the filter. (with rags and bags around the alternator... I've been busy reading up!)

Only other things I've done are stick in some 'cataclean' injector cleaner and offer up my alpine 2 way and kenwood dual cone speakers... They'll fit so I've just got to get around to fitting them.

Next job is go to the local valeters to get all the dog hairs hovered out!!! its filthy inside !!!

...been to the valeters... it looked like a pet shop inside! now all the hair and dirt is gone its much better - and the wheels cleaned up nicely!

and the thermostat seems to be behaving... 9 o'clock, none of this quarter past seven nonsense!!!

All is well for now, just need to get a second key...

Progress update:

The EGR valve is filthy! (I had a look then put the hose back on!)

I think i need a new bonnet and front bumper, it would be easier than repairing and re painting.

Coolant temperature = 75 degrees... need to do thermostat modification...

MPG is 43 according to the IPK diagnostics (6.6 L/100km) over the last 80 miles. will do a brim to brim test starting next week.

Otherwise I am so happy with this car. Wish I had bought a 75 years ago! Its the nicest car I have ever driven, just a touch nicer to drive than my old 820 sterling coupe!

**update, did a further 25 miles and got the average down to 49 mpg. Happy days! feels like the MAF sensor needs changing, not much poke below 2000 rpm and the turbo comes in well sometimes and hardly at all other times... did an oil change today too....

Looking very nice, Copperleaf is a lovely colour.

Have a look at the bottom of the intercooler hose at the front passenger side of the engine bay. If it has a misting of oil at the bottom, you need new intercooler o-ring seals (£4.50 from Jules). When they're perished, they give symptoms very similar to a dead MAF sensor, lack of power at low revs and inconsistent boosting.

Yup, colour code is CDX (copperleaf)

Got my club sticker on!

Gave her a polish and she looks OK for a 13 year old!

And I also got a wood style gear knob (the old one was cracked and threadbare?)

MAF sensor is now unplugged and she's running well... looks like about 48 mpg but I'll know for sure when I fill up next month.

Booked in for lower wishbone bushes 24th June - £216 at a local garage.... I might have tackled it myself a few years ago but too much Arthritis means I can only do the easy jobs!

Lots to do - 4 new tyres needed, re-map, flip keys to cut and programme, more walnut for the AC control panel and a new stereo and speakers... plus a new door CL actuator is on its way...Busy times!

Loving this Rover 75 - I wonder why I haven't always had one!!! I'll only move on when I can afford a Jag XF.... maybe one day???
