Default ABS and traction control and cruise control

Hi,
The KV6 Saloon in behaving a bit odd. During driving I realized that the cruise control didn’t work. So I stopped at the road side and restarted the engine (that usually do the trick on the Tourer to make the cruise control work again). The only thing that happened was the ABS light and the traction control warning lights both lit up on the display. Anyone have an opinion on where to start looking for the faulty bits and pieces? Front ABS sensors, and in that case left or right side of the car? Or something else? BTW the car is a left hand side steering wheel type.

Thanks for any thoughts in advance.

Hello Peter,

If I remember correctly it’s the front left hand (viewed as you sit in the driving seat) wheel sensor which feeds the cruise control system. If you remove the wheel you’ll probably find that the sensor cable has wriggled out of the retaining clip on the strut. It then touches the tyre when you apply full lock and the damage causes the ABS, and anything else which uses the signal, to fail.

A new sensor is not expensive but getting the old one out can be problematic.

Hi Simon, thanks for your useful information. I have heard that getting those sensors out could be a bit tricky, but now I know where to start.
All the best / Peter

And if you need a new sensor quickly I've got one up in Gävle, not used, new in wrapping.

PM me if interested.
