Default 2.0 KV6 MPG and Common Problems

Okay I bought a Early Longbridge car yesterday and it has all the Pre Project Drive stuff on it but it's a KV6 whats new for me what MPG do people get and what problems. Do they have in November it has receipts saying the belts have been replaced so I don't have to worry about that for a few years how many miles till the belts needs replacing. What issues do they have and what do they do on fuel

I've got a Cowley 2.5 which gives me low to mid 20s mpg, although it rarely gets to do more than a dozen miles a day to and from the station. Expect more if you're doing reasonably long runs. The belts need doing every 90k and the last time I had mine done the bill was around £600 (although I did get the water pump and hydromount done at the same time).

Issues on the KV6 mainly centre on the cooling system. The thermostat assembly is prone to leaks. It's not a particularly difficult job to replace it but it takes a few hours. The VIS motors can also gum up and need replacing, although one of our members offers a very good re-con service. Breather holes in the cam covers can also gunge up resulting in over-pressurisation and blowing the end caps.

There are probably other niggles but those are the three I've had.
