Aircon/Cabin Thermostat faulty

Hello everyone,

Here's the situation:

- aircon tested with T4, apparently no problem
- aircon blows cold air only at setting LOW
- aircon blows hit air at any setting of 16C above
- aircon re-gased, problem still there

Could this simply be the cabin thermostat? Is that a typical problem? Thanks for your help!

There was recently a thread about taking apart and cleaning out all the fluff surrounding the air con (stat?) which apparently lives behind the little bunch of slots in the dash on the left of the steering wheel.


Don't know if this is your problem but thought I'd mention it.

I'm afraid that I can't find it either, obviously using the wrong search criteria / description

It was definitely here quite recently however as being a scaredy cat I start reading these things thinking 'that sounds a good idea to do' and then immediately followed by almost fainting as the 'How to' mentions things like removing dash etc.

Maybe someone else knows how to find the thread. It was quite detailed on how to do it as I recall.

Well found. Did you use the Forum search system or external Google? (if so what keywords?) Or did you simply remember the thread?

Although I remember the discussion, no combination of search terms would filter it out from unrelated stuff. I find the search system virtually useless.

Lol! I searched for "fluff" as per Bendrick's description, and I used the forum search, rather than the google search.

So did I but found nothing relevant. Still can't. I can't make head nor tail of Custom Search so mostly rely on memory.
