Here is the video - Quite interesting

I personally would initially use Redex to give the system a clean, then by using a premium fuel this would keep it clean.

The video features a VW. Can you trust the figures shown?

Personally I always use supermarket fuel and never a problem even at MOT time (which is today) and then I throw a whole bottle of redex (or similar) into a full tank on the away leg of the holiday run (next month?). Keeps the car happy and keeps me happy.

I stick a bottle of Redex in every now and then but Dunc (cossie dunc) reckons Cataclean is more efective.

Default Re:fuel

To answer your question the answer is no. The branded fuels have additive packages added to them and you should use what the manufacturer recommended re octane.

To increase the octane the oil companies add a gasoline enhancer which is nothing special - a C7 ( Toluene )

I didn't use it on the motorbike, as a little Castrol R in the tank made it smell like a racing bike!

Stick a drop in the ole motor mower. It doesn't cut the grass any better but it makes gardening more pleasurable.
