Default Wheel refurbs in Wrexham area?

I am thinking of getting my spare set of crowns refurbed before fitting new tyres to them.

I have previously used this guy

http://thewheelrestorer.co.uk/home.html

But at £90 a wheel i feel he is getting a bit pricey for a humble crown alloy. I had used national powder coating in Widnes, who were £40 a wheel but only did half a job. They didnt even remove the copper slip grease from inside the hub mount before coating, and the fronts are starting to bubble telling me for £40 they skimp on the prep.

I came across this website

http://www.phoenixalloywheelrefurbishment.co.uk/

Has anybody had any work done by them? Their gallery looks good, but they always do, so interested if any feedback from here. I will be asking them for a quote.

Phoenix got back to me with a quote of £240-£260 for 4 wheels depending on the level of damage that needs repairing. Mine are basically just light scuffs around the rims. By comparison the wheel restorer quotes £80 a wheel for 15", so may give phoenix a try.

Hi David,

Another option would be the wheel specialist Chester based in Ellesmere Port .

https://www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk...estercheshire/

You would have to budget at least £75 per corner, may be a little more.

I can recommend Greg from personal experience and he does a proper job.

It depends on your budget and what you wish to achieve.

Personal recommendations are always useful. I myself have personal experience of thewheelrestorer and he does a really excellent job but his prices have crept up a fair bit since i last used him. He does target high end motors such as porsche, ferrari and Rovers, but from their website it seems phoenix offer a full professional refurb as well and just as local to me so worth a try.

David,

Just giving you another option , but you go with whoever is the best for you.

If you go with Phoenix I would be interested in your feedback re the quality of the job and price.
