Default Key case recommendations

Hi guys

Blue needs new key fob cases as the buttons have disintegrated. I bought some before but they were awful and required lots of fettling. Any originals hiding anywhere or better quality repros anyone could recommend?

Thanks

Dawn ☺

Buying off Ebay etc is a lottery. Russ told me a while aho even Brian and him had problems sourcing decent quality keys.

There's no such thing according to an ex-MGR dealer I was talking to recently. The only official replacement was a complete blank key which then had to be cut and coded by BMW at enormous cost. If true, that explains why the bare cases now on sale are a bit out of spec.

I'm afraid that's not quite true Simon, the official replacements are ordered from VIN and arrived precut and coded from BMW in Munchen via XPart.

Genuine Valeo cases are available provided you know where to look, and after all BMW purchase the key from a third party, ie Valeo, and don't make them in house

The supplier is not what you would expect, however I'm not going to divulge that information for obvious reasons.

What I will say though, is you can't buy them for a couple of quid each from eBay

What are they like to swap over, fairly straightforward?

I'm in the same boat, both original keys are starting to get quite worn.

Pity you can't convert them to a jaguar style flip key. 😞
