Default Removing carpet smells

I dropped a bottle of water on the floor of my room at uni a few days ago, and the most horrendous smell has appeared - I can only describe it as a mixture of mould, feet, and wee. I've used an insane amount of "deoduriser" trying to get the smell out, but if anything, it's worse now than it was. The smell has gotten onto some of my clothes which are now all in a bag in the boot of my car. I can't put up with the smell, so it's either I get it fixed somehow, or ask to switch rooms.

Does anyone know any good ways of removing smells from carpet? Sanitiser, scrubbing and hoovering just seemed to multiply the smell. never smelt anything this bad!

(Also, I can't use anything in an aerosol as it will set the fire alarms off unfortunately)

Get copious amounts of bicarbonate of soda and sprinkle it liberally over the affected area or everywhere you please, leave it a day or so and then vacuum it up. If the smell is still there then repeat but it will work.
It's probably the best deodoriser I have ever used, if you need to you can mix essential oils with it to give any scent you wish.
I have used this for years and even to remove dried milk and vomit smells from my last car.
Buy 5kg food grade tubs from Ebay for about a tenner.

Was just about to suggest that, if you had been nearer, I would have cleaned the carpet for you, as that's my job, but 200 miles is a tad too far.

That's a nice offer Rich, as you say a little too far though. As a student I'm guessing Raspberrycai is used to funny smells though

First question - was it definitely water?
Second - how much was spilt?
Third - has it fully dried?
Fourth - what sort of carpet and what is the floor underneath?
