I just need to finish off by checking the levels, I reckon that i have put in about 7 - 7 1/2 litres of new ATF, so think I got most of it out.

One very small question as I am was lying on my back in the man cave, where exactly is the 5mm allen key check level, as I cant seem to find it

Many thanks

Stuart

Default Ravenol atf jf506e

Any feedback of using this oil ? I know that is in the recommended list and someone used the Ravenol to service the autobox but haven't seen any feedback yet.
Much more easy to get here (in Italy) from Germany than MG Rover stuff.
Thanks.

Here’s a tip when carrying out this job.ive done it on all my 75,s

Once you’ve found the level plug paint it yellow so that it’s easily spotted next time. I do this with my sump plugs as well.

Also, I’ve recently cut holes in my undertray corresponding with gearbox level plug and sump plug so I won’t have to remove the undertray which can be a pain next time.

Thanks beinet1, changed my ATF fluid today using this guide. Very straightforward, much simpler than I expected.

The old fluid was disgusting and absolutely stank so god knows when it was last changed. Definitely an improvement in the smoothness of the box now.

Just to add my twopennuth, I changed my fluid today using this guide, easy enough to do, the only difficult part for me was pulling the pipe from the intercooler, mine has the vertical pipes and were stuck fast, left to soak for an hour and eventually I won.
8 litres out and 8 litres back, just a tiny dribble from the level plug so 8 litres it is.
As per every one else the old stuff was manky so again not changed in a long while. The car drives so much smoother now, no grabbing in the gear changes anymore.
Thanks again for posting this.
