All the years I had that type fitted to my 220 SD, I never got any water out of mine. I think the turnover of fuel at garages is so much faster than it was, it hardly gives water much chance to accumulate in The supply tanks. Never had any in the 75..................................yet. Have you managed to loosen the filter yet Jules? You will be surprised how easy it is really.

I got one of those, fitted and it worked fine, just sat slightly higher. (never got water out of it either - although I did get water out of an old Passat I had, years ago).

Remove the two fuel lines put rags over the ends of the lines, remove electric plug, undo the 8mm bolt holding the clamp, put a rags over the top on the fuel filter making sure you have a finger and your thumb over the inlet and out let that the fuel lines fitted into, remove from the car, clamp it into a vice, with the rag still over the tope turn slowly if will soon come loose, put a bit of diesel on the new filter O-rings on the filter then screw it to the low pressure pump.

I usually get sent the one with the water trap, I ordered one from the local factors yesterday and specified no water trap and the correct one arrived.

Why not just pour the injector cleaner into the tank?
