Fitted 2 meyle rta bushes today not a bad job with a puller to get the new in. drilled the old bush middle out then cut a slot in the old outer case of bush then hammered out with a drift new mehle bushes went in very tight, would have struggled without the puller. didn't take the rear arm off just shocker bolt undone and pulled the arm down for access marked the bracket before removal but will get 4 wheel alignment done soon. she drives nice and tight again at the back now. by the way the bushes i used were bmw mehle bushes not mg rover one's. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-3-Ser...item4ae8af4cc6 here is the puller i used to install https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-3-Ser...item3fc15ee49b had the parts in the boot for the last 12 months lol only just got around to doing it Sorry only one picture got stuck in

Worth every penny Bri, the feeling when a broken bolt comes out without damaging anything pays for itself👍

I come across a fair few broken 6mm bolts at work and have a 4.8mm left handed drill in my toolbox.
Usually the drill will dig in and unscrew what's left of the thread. |

The hardest ones are when "somebody" has drilled, then hammered in the tang end of a file, as an extractor and that broke off too!

Yes I agree, this time I was lucky! Whoever had snapped the bolt had left me a perfectly flat surface 👍

Could be handy for my crash beam, a previous owner rounded it off beautifully.
Today I had about 6ft of redundant cooling pipe removed, it used to span from the radiator all the way to a non existant oil cooler bodged together with pvc pipe and then back across the other side into the engine, now it just goes out the radiator and up to the top of the engine

Yesterday spent the day in lovely sunshine under the car doing my annual cleaning of the underside, checking for corrosion, pumping more Dynax into the cavities and then coating all suspension and subframes with more wax. Followed up checking and cleaning the brakes, adjusting the handbrake and cleaning the inside of the wheels. Finally carried out my weekly checks of all fluids and electrics. Great way to spend the day tho’ I must be feeling my age as getting out from under the car was a struggle! Still went to bed with a big smile on my face and slept like a log.
Today took the old girl for her 14th MoT – passed with flying colours and with a smoke test reading of just 0.3. Well chuffed and all ready for another year of pleasure driving

Spent an hour with a wire brush attachment on the angle grinder stripping a few layers of bright red paint of a pair of recon brake calipers. I was surprised that they came up like almost new! Then another hour to get under the roof liner on my tourer to find the aerial amp and try to work out what the connectors are, to eventually connect a roof aerial instead. Beautiful day too
