My 1977 Triumph Dolomite 1300. Unreliable, but full of character.

My Triumph GT6 MkIII - overdrive on third and forth - so effectively a 5 speed gearbox - quite something when my Dads old Vauxhall had three gears.

Loved the shape - loved the finish - loved that lazy six cylinder burble.

Emerald Green it was.......

I think if old Edgar was still with us he'd argue it gave you 6 speeds.

Hope your wife doesn't see this, but I bet your MG would have talked less, used less money, and it wouldn't be jealous if you drove other MGs and, -- today would be as attractive as ever, and worth more than what you paid!
BTW why chrome bumper in 74? was that not after the rubber thingies.(OK rubber bumpers as of Sep 1974!)

Toyota Carina E 1.8.
Liked the car and should have spent money repairing it not changing it.
Apparently the steering rack was leaking. Probably if I had been a member of this forum at the time I'd have known how to fix it

I have only owned seven cars in 37 years of motoring, three of which I still own so not a great deal to choose from but for me for different reasons:

A 1982 MG Metro 1300, my first and least powerful car, but for me the most fun to drive.

A 1985 MG Montego EFi with LCD dash which I did over 132,000 miles in 9 years with only routine servicing, clutch, alternator and a couple of wheel bearings. A smooth and fast car in a straight line, not so taut through bends though.

Finally a wedge shaped Rover 214SLi that I commuted to London in for several years. The build quality of the car was superb, better than my 75 and the K series engine performed faultlessly

I regret not getting a Maestro turbo a seriously fast and good handling car. I remember test driving a couple of EFI Maestro's, they had similar go cart like handling to my MG Metro but the cost of insurance ruled them out at the time

I have had a lot of 75's and ZT's (As you all know) There are only two I regret selling, one is Grovey, he really did make me smile when blasting around the B roads, the other is Goldie, the 250k miler that I sold twice and bought back, something good about an old diesel that can beat a Subaru around the twisty roads
