Diesel Auto Tourer - MPG ?
X702UOK had it's first really decent run this weekend, making the return trip to Birmingham and a brief excursion down to Gaydon. Checked the tyre pressures, EGR and pipes cleaned out, freshly serviced and then filled to the brim before I left, travelled all the way at a steady 65-70mph, other than maybe 30 miles of town driving within Birmingham. Oh, also well polished to help make it slippery...
I've got just under a quarter tank left (maybe an eighth, based purely on the gauge) and covered almost 500 miles, whilst the computer is telling me about 43mpg. Does this all sound about right / good / bad for a 115 CDT auto ? Many thanks

When I had my diesel auto tourer I was getting about 40mpg, mainly A roads and local short journeys so that sounds right to me.

Very good for an Auto.
I get exactly what the manual says for urban, extra urban & combined. Don't reset the MPG for a couple of months and you will end up with an overall reading close to combined figures

My ZT diesel auto (probably bigger wheels than yours - 18s) gives 48.8 by the computer (46 true) if taking it real easy - 60 MPH ish average. Going with the flow I'll get more like 41/42. On a mix of some fast roads (35%) and mostly town, I'll get around 36-38 MPG.

I get similar figures driving Mrs Noc's auto. Fair drop compared to my manual.

2 14 mile trips a day, plus around 400 motorway miles, mine averaged 34mpg over 2000 miles.

Thank you very much for all the replies ! Knowing the 'source' of this car, and the possible lack of servicing in recent years, I had no idea what condition the engine might have been in internally. But from what you've all said, it looks like it might be ok.
I was thinking that this trip might of given mpg in the high 30's (from what I've read previously about diesel autos not being too good), but seems it's not looking too bad then Cheers again

Certainly seemed to be going well enough when I struggled past you on the 5 mate, looked lovely with no sign of any smoke.
I'm still trying to talk myself out of going to view that early tourer in Poole, getting tougher to ignore it as the price is down to £425 Cheers Ian
