Redex, and fuel additives, a quick question.
So, I f I am using BP ultimate fuel, is it worth using Redex treatment ?. Would the fuel not just do the same job ?.

I usually fill up on a tank of Tesco momentum 99 and get good results. I caught an episode of Fifth Gear the other day when they suggested using a fuel additive to restore lost hp. A a result have been using redex in the last two tank fills. I now get better mpg and better acceleration OR a big placebo effect, but at the end of the day it works for me and I will continue to use it for the foreseeable future.

I have been using Redex for over 50 years, both in m/cycles and cars. Seems to make the engine smoother and quieter. Mpg over a tankfull is a little better. It also is supposed to help lubricate the exhaust/ inlet valves.

Back in the 60s almost every garage had a pump can of Redex by the petrol pumps. A squirt of Redex into the tank was a couple of pence. I've been using it ever since. It must be doing something, as half a century later it's still on the go.
I didn't use it on the motorbike, as a little Castrol R in the tank made it smell like a racing bike! Fifer

Thanks for the reply's lads, but my question is do you need to use Redex if you are using BP ultimate fuel, would the fuel itself not be enough.??

I would think not as BP would say that BP ultimate is all you need.
