Smile head gasket

hello new member here i have had my 75 since april 2016 most of little jobs been done but been told need a head gasket replaced garages in my town not interested to much time involved they say i only need gasket etc as belts and pump done does any one know of a mobile mechanic who would help i live in sunderland area thanks wyndy67

2005 1.8T. I'm not doubting the advice you received, but what symptoms does it have?

Hi John,

I know that 1.8 's are prone to HGF but there is a lot of misdiagnosis e.g.
could be a fan issue or there are weak points from the expansion tank to the thermostat.

I would suggest that you contact Marinabrian on the Forum here as a starting point.He is in Newcastle.
