Default tyre proyectors

seeing an old thread about these has reminded me.

my tourer does not have tyre protectors fitted but I cant see a hole on the strut for fitting them. A quick look at rimmers web site seems to indicate these are for saloons only. Is this right, they only go on saloons?

If only for saloons, why not tourers? Don't their springs snap?

Hi,

I have spring protectors fitted on my face lift MG ZTT 180 SE auto . For safety reasons and they don't cost a lot of money I would recommend that if not already fitted owners should fit them to their cars.

I used to have them fitted to my Rover 75 tourer before that died.

I fitted the protectors to my Tourer, the fixing hole was not instantly obvious but was there. The spring seat is the same on saloons and tourers, for instance Damper RNB001050 fits both

HI Ian.
The fixing holes on the struts will, be there they may have been filled in by mud etc

The holes as others have said will be there but if you can’t find them just drill one. It won’t matter if there’s an extra hole, in fact it’d be beneficial in draining water from the cup

ok thanks I'll take another look. No idea where car was used before but the amount of mud/dirt everywhere in unbelievable. Rust however does not seem to be an issue

When i fitted mine the lower hole bolt was a doddle but aligning the bolt through the upper hole took some fettling- seemed slightly out to me.

When fitting mine I formed the threads with the self tapping bolts before I offered up the spring retaining cups.

Just found it easier to initially drive the bolts in without having to hold the metal spring retainers in place too.

I think you’re a bit late to respond to the recall
