Just when you think..................
............................................ everything is coming along nicely, and wham! A spanner in the works. Banana has thanked me for all the work and money spent on by breaking down. Refused point blank to start. Not sure if she has got the hump about me selling her mate “Rhubarb”.
A quick phone call to Dr. Darke and the prognosis is the petrol pump/filter has failed. So off to Moorland Auto Solutions, my local garage, and Ian the chief mechanic popped along to have a look. He took one look at Banana shining in the sun and said, “Oh! My, that is absolutely gorgeous, I’m not getting in you’ll have to”. Think he loved the paint. Anyway he confirmed the pump was not working. So she will be towed in on Wednesday and put right. And he confirmed what has been said on here, that was why the inertia switch has kept tripping. So Redfive has come to the rescue, although sold, I’m still using her till she is collected, would have used the Bear but she needs go go juice. Think I’ve paid out enough this week.

The inertia switch does not trip in response to a faulty fuel pump Bob
Make sure the diagnosis is correct in terms of a defective fuel pump, you can always use the one out of the V8 as that's an 1800T pump Brian |

After you left she refused point blank to start. Cannot hear the pump working. Contacted Matt and he gave me a few pointers, all which I tried but to no avail.

And so the mystery continues............................
.................................................. after standing for a week and Banana still refusing to start, the garage came to collect her this morning. And lo and behold she started on the button. Anyway the garage took her in. They said The pump looked as if it had only just been fitted. They done the research on the fuel filter separation link on here. They fitted the "Fabled Orange Clip", I bought a brand new one off of our members on here.
But they think the problem is more than likely to be a immobiliser fault. Now AM Restorations were unable to start Banana a couple of times, and they thought that the key fob was at fault. I have been using the original fob, but I do have a spare one that came with the car, So I have swapped them over. Ian the mechanic said it it can depend on how hard you push the release button but is not sure if this Banana's problem. Will have to get Matt Darke to T4 the car for me to see if we can find out the problem is. But at least she is home again.
