Exclamation Windows 10 update, version 2004

Yesterday, I allowed my laptop to download Windows 10 Features update version 2004. It spent a few hours (!) downloading the update (it is apparently a humongous size) - and then more hours installing itself.
It got to 84% complete - and then hung. Having had not dissimilar experiences in the past with Windows Updates, I left the laptop plugged in and running overnight - and got up to find it was still stuck on 84% complete. I've managed to undo the changes the system made during the update process, and fingers crossed, I'm back to normal. I've had a trundle around the internet, and it would seem that this particular update has been issued by Microsoft even though it is riddled with errors, and has caused many black (and blue) screens of death.
The moral of the story is - do NOT let your PC download and attempt to intall "Features update to Windows 10, version 2004" - it ain't worth the hassle

Did my 2004 update last week, didn't take long. No problems at all - infact what I normally get with updates from Microsoft.

I did mine last week - thought all was well, but then lost all access to EMails for 2 days. They re-appeared without explanation or any further action!

Does make me wonder why we are encouraged to take so much care of personal data!!

I've updated 4 so far without a problem. My 9 yr old dell, wifeys 3 year old tablet an 2 work computers.
I think one of the reasons Apple have it easier is that they run on a very small range of hardware whereas Windows gets installed on an enormous range of kit with all sort of peripherals.
