Firefrost Facelift
I believe this is the 75 mine was part exchanged against by the previous owner. I wonder whats gone wrong...
A friend of mine who lives close to the garage where I bought the 75 from spotted the Yaris I part exchanged against it and sent me the photo, which was a surprise.

What a surprise seeing this! I am the previous owner of your car and I did indeed part exchange it for the 54 reg pictured. The reason being I wanted a sandstone interior and an auto gearbox. It's back at the garage as the alternator has packed up but luckily it's still under warranty.
You've got yourself a nice car there I do hope you will look after it! I bought it at the end of august last year from a chap called Malcolm who owns 'Spurr Classic Cars' in Sheffield. He had been using it for the past year to get between there and his home in Rotherham. Apparently the previous owner sold it to him because he was so upset about the scratches on the boot lid he didn't want to drive it anymore. I believe the car has spent most of its life around Sheffield. I've done a few jobs on it in the time I've had it including fitting new number plates (yes I know the back one is slightly wonky but we'll gloss over that!), fitted a new steering wheel as the old one was very worn and I replaced the comet alloys it came on for a nice set of crowns which I bought from a chap in Quorn, near Loughborough. Oh and you needn't worry about the auxiliary belt as it bleeding snapped on me 2 days after I bought the car!! |

Hi Alex, she's in safe hands - you've answered a couple of queries I had about the car anyway, being a 2003 build, I did wonder why Crowns were fitted (tempted to get a set of 16" Unions) - also the steering wheel rattle at idle which again is explained - I wonder if a damper wasn't fitted to the replacement if it was from a petrol.
And yes, the rear plate is coming off to be straightened! I was amazed to discover a pretty much fully stamped service book, too.

She’s looking good. Don’t be showing me too many pictures like that I’ll be wishing I kept it!
Not sure about your steering wheel theory as I seem to remember it rattled before I changed it but I could be mistaken. Here it is the day I bought it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Also just so you're aware as it was my first car when I was 17 (18 now) there's still a deactivated black box fitted somewhere under the glovebox.

I can't believe how cheap he had it up for mind, I think I got a bargain!
I'm on the hunt for a damper anyway as the rattle is frustrating me. The scratch I'm going to get some paint for, fill it a layer at a time, wet sand and polish - it'll still be visible, but from experience, 80% better. It was good of James to include new key cases, though one is work in progress as it looks to have been glued together at some point....

Oh dear... I hope it is deactivated - I may have been running late on Saturday and stretched it's legs a little to make up lost time....

Yes it was certainly a good price although Malcolm let me have it for £875!
I'm glad you're getting the scratch sorted it really bugged me and somewhat spoils an otherwise smart car. The keyfobs were a job on my list I hadn't got round to yet. He's a top bloke that James. When I rang him the other day about the alternator on my new one he didn't hesitate to tell me to bring it down and they would get it sorted for me as soon as possible. I hope to be picking it up tomorrow. |

I'm sure he'll have the new one sorted pretty quickly - he's just listed a truly stunning Y plate V6 Auto and now, I'm currently figuring out which organs I can live without, so I can afford it!

I had a quick look around it yesterday when I took mine down. It's certainly a stunner! Although I would like to know which prat decided it would look good to stick a big 'Vitesse' badge on the boot lid.
Dorchester and Aubergine has to be one of the best colour combinations. They must be quite fond of Rovers. I also caught a glimpse of a gold facelift yesterday and in the advert pictures for mine there was a white R8 400 in the background. |
