headlight height adjustment
Hello,
Because my 75, 2.5 V6 1999 has to pass German MOT (very strict!!) this problem has to be solved: The headlight height adjustment wheel is not functioning. I already replaced the light unit (with the wheel)on the fascia. Does somebody recognise the problem and knows what to do? Thanks for your help and advice Robert from Ahaus, Germany |

The interior beam height adjuster operates a stepper motor inside the lamps. This pushes/pulls the lower edge of the reflector so the beams go up/down. Maybe the mechanism has seized. It's quite common. Have you tried the mechanical adjuster sprocket at the rear of the lamps?
If that works OK it maybe an electrical supply issue. As a first step, check the wiring harness where it passes over the RHS front body seam. The harness sometimes gets chafed and fractures. You have to remove the front bumper for access. TC Last edited by T-Cut; 13th December 2019 at 21:13.. |

Hello,
Thank you very much for your quick advice!! We changed both light units for brand new ones, because I imported the car from the UK and the light pattern in Europe is different due to the right hand traffic. So I think the stepper motor will be allright With the "old" light units the adjustment also did not function. So I think it is indeed the electrical supply and I'll take the front bumper off to check. When it is all settled I'll sent you a message. Kind regards, Robert Admiraal, Ahaus Germany |
