I drilled a small punch sized hole to the side of the spinning rivnut. Found drilling in reverse avoided breaking off the fine drill bit since it kept snagging otherwise and I lost a couple of tips which I had to punch out.
How I used a punch to lock the rivnut and unscrew the bolt which had soaked for 24hrs in Plusgas. Final result and damage. I drilled out the rivnut and pushed it through. Hope it doesn’t rattle too much wherever it went ! This shows the M10 rivnut compressed thoroughly onto wet metal paint. I think the original rivnuts were put into holes that had been drilled slightly too large since I only had to enlarge one of the four holes to get an M10 in! Then hot melt glue was injected into the rivnut and a smaller pilot hole placed centrally to receive the s/s self tapper. Finally ready for the refurbished near side tail light.
