Have you got a couple of nuts, wound them onto the end of the thread, tightened them tightly together and used them to restrain the twisting of undoing the adjuster nut?
What about heat?
What about welding a nut to the end of the thread? Then you only have to cut 15mm off?
What about removing the centre console and getting access to the back of it?

Lots of ways without having to destroy the nut or thread?
Last option is to cut it off completely and replace the adjuster section. Plenty of options...

Mole grips on the tip of the thread can sometimes work!

I had the same thing. Very frustrating. I tried several ideas but it wouldn't shift. Had to carefully dremel through the nut trying not to damage the cable, as the majority of new parts are rubbish and don't fit properly at all!

Yep I've had the same and ended up getting the Dremel out and carefully slitting the nut. Luckily the thread on the cable end was fine.

Hi Mat.
Use a 3mm drill and drill down the nut, a couple of time if you do not have a dremel, the nut as most likely been tightened down onto the shoulder of the cable.

try not to damage thread, i believe you may have the console out at the moment ? if so it will be easier for you, cutting through the nut is a better option than replacing the cable.

It's a bit more of a faff but if all else fails just cut the threaded section off altogether so it can be removed from the fork, obtain a Mini compensator assembly (I think it's the M53 Mini - brand new about £12) and replace the whole lot. There is a How-to (by I think Arctic) on here. It's a much better compensator arrangement.

Have you tried a Dremel or hand drill with a flexible shaft and cutting disc?
