I am almost sure there is another clamp on these matrix pipes in the foot well, a W clamp i think which allows some movement of the pipes so they can be joined properly?

Many thanks chaps. Leaving the "W clamp" in place gives some rigidity but I will be out there in a little while to have another go. Thanks for the links and suggestions.
