Exhaust back pipe and silencer off; derusted where necessary and rust converted and than waxoyled it. Brushed on the visible bits and squirted aerosol into the holes. Hope that it the new one goes back as easily tomorrow!

I got the v8 out of the garage today to do a couple of jobs prior to her upcoming mot.
Adjusted up the handbrake and refitted the exhaust heatshield as it was hanging down, some oversize alloy washers for that, then I fitted some Yellowstuff brake pads to the front stoppers, initial thoughts are that these match the claims made by EBC.

Default New front brake caliper

Replaced the front nearside brake caliper with a new one from DMGRS ( thanks for quick despatch Mat)
My brakes had got hot on two occasions recently and I had to tap the caliper with the towing eye and the wheel brace on the hard shoulder of the M25 to free it off a couple of weeks ago!
I'd spent last week squirting Plus Gas on the brake hose to caliper joint and it all came apart easily today. Brilliant!
Used a brake hose clamp to avoid loss of too much fluid, and the gravity bleed method to bleed just the front nearside when done.
All went well and I'm very pleased with myself!
I always recommend Plus Gas-sing in advance with a little wire brushing before that ...it really works.
I might even do the other side, or perhaps just replace caliper piston and seals, just for fun. I spoil my car!
I'll be at the meet on 14th April so may see some of you there
Happy Roving all
John

Last week I curbed one of my wheels and that has started me on a slippery slope. I repaired and painted the wheel which turned out fine, then found that the center cap didn't match. I then pulled off all four center caps and refinished them and now they look great. The rub is that the remaining wheels now look tatty, so they are next on the repaint list. Time to get busy!

Here's the first wheel in primer

Hi Rich. Are those playing cards you have used to mask the wheel?

Not today but yesterday, which was actually a sunny afternoon , I finally got a few jobs done.
I'd noticed that the temperature had been dropping on some long trips recently, so I replaced the Renault 5 stat. I'd previously bought the kit from Dmgrs in 2019, so I got 5 years from it, and it cost the exact same price last week!
Bit of a struggle getting the old one out, but the new one slipped in easily.

I did an Oil & filter change, my 12volt oil pump from LIDL yet again saving all the crawling about underneath. Would have done the PCV too but an error from Dmgrs meant it hadn't arrived , though customer service was excellent and it was swiftly sorted and is now on the way.

I replaced some perished rubber diesel fuel lines to and from the filter, following the rather messy burst pipe from a few weeks ago , the smell has nearly faded away...

I ordered a couple new 16" tyres. I've not bought any for a few years and was surprised to see prices. £230 for 2 x Uniroyal Rainsport 5s which with the recent weather is quite fitting.
Though hopefully it won't rain for about 2 months....

I took my Union wheels to Victor Barry tyres wheels and got my new Uniroyals fitted onto the Unions. I also took my spare which keeps going flat, and got the blokes to have a look at it..
Turns out a small sticker on the tyre rim was coming away from rubber and making a tiny air gap. They cleaned it up and polished all the wheel rims. Must have been in a good mood because they charged no extra for doing the spare.
I went home and swapped my wheels , winters off and summers on.
Mrs Andy is off to Leicester tomorrow for Hen party, so she paid some Muppet at the multi storey car park £20 to clean it whilst she was at the opticians. I think he needs a trip to Specsavers because it wasn't done very well, loads of bits missed.
Heaven knows what happened inside because the boot was full of foam from around the edges of the headlining
Still it does shine a bit more now!

Took out the 260's battery tray,
and started extending it for a longer/ larger battery.
